New VA Legislation

The House of Representatives in Washington on October 28, 2013 passed HR 2189.  For Veterans and Widows of Veterans seeking a Low Income Pension commonly referred to as Aid and Attendance. This bill would require the VA to impose a transfer penalty for assets transferred or disposed of for less than full consideration during the 36 months prior to the applications. This Bill has been sent to the Senate for consideration so we cannot predict when or if it will be finalized.  While not final, it signals a change of direction.  We recommend those contemplating filing an application for these benefits to keep this in mind.
